Essential information to enjoy the beaches in Menorca<\/h2>\n

Menorca is still the least touristic Balearic Island<\/strong>, but in summer<\/strong> it’s impossible to get rid of mass tourism<\/strong>. In addition to the amount of tourists<\/strong>, jellyfish<\/strong> is also huge problem in the island. Therefore to enjoy your trip to Menorca<\/strong>, read carefully the following two suggestions.<\/p>\n

Get up as early as you can<\/h3>\n

We know when you go on holiday, especially to an island with beaches, you would rather sleep till late in the morning. Nevertheless, our experience<\/strong> is that it’s worth getting up early<\/strong> and find the wonderful beaches in Menorca<\/strong>\u00a0almost without people<\/b>. Two hours later, the most popular beaches and coves are full of people in summer (in July and August especially). In the picture below, you can see the difference between the beach in Cala Mitjana at 8 AM and 10 AM. In addition, if you don’t get going<\/strong> relatively early, you won’t only find beaches full of people, but you might be left without your dream beach<\/strong>, since when the parkings are full, they close the access road<\/strong> to several beaches.\u00a0\"Playa<\/p>\n

Avoid beaches with swell and jellyfish<\/h3>\n

We think that after getting up early and possibly walking for a while,\u00a0you wouldn’t be happy<\/strong> to find<\/strong> a beautiful cove with large waves<\/strong> and full of jellyfish<\/strong>. The waves<\/strong> and the strong currents<\/strong> are usually a minor problem<\/strong> on this island, since most of the coves<\/strong> are well protected from swell<\/strong>. Nevertheless, jellyfish<\/strong> represents a huge problem<\/strong>, which becomes more serious every year.<\/p>\n

There’s not a 100% working method, but in most cases simply checking<\/strong> out the wind forecast<\/strong> will help you out. The wind direction<\/strong> is a key factor to determine<\/strong> the swell<\/strong> and hence the appearance of jellyfish<\/strong>. If the wind<\/strong> blows from the North<\/strong>, you should probably go<\/strong> to the beaches on the South coast<\/strong> of Menorca. In contrast, if there’s wind<\/strong> blowing from the South<\/strong>, the beaches on the Northern coast<\/strong> are probably a better choice.<\/p>\n
