Castles<\/strong> are usually from the medieval<\/strong> period. They have thick walls<\/strong> and their main purpose was defense. Palaces<\/strong> are more impressive<\/strong> and decorated buildings that served or still serve as a residence<\/strong> of kings, princes<\/strong> and other royalties.\u00a0These buildings are one of the most important part of the architectural heritage<\/strong> of European history<\/strong>. Not only the artwork<\/strong>, but the technology<\/strong> used in constructing them also reflect the progress of our civilization<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In spite of the wars we suffered there are still so many of them around Europe that “the top castle” lists<\/strong> you find are so different<\/strong> from person to person. Our list is not an objective top 25 – it simply includes our favorite ones we visited and took great pictures of.
