The Iguazu Falls are probably the most impressive waterfalls on our planet. Beauty is always subjective, but the Iguazu Falls that consist of more than 250 individual waterfalls on the border between Brazil and Argentina, are really unique. It’s not surprising that it was chosen to be one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2011.
If you have any doubt about the righteousness of the voters’ decision, we invite you on a photographic journey to visit this marvelous natural creation.
Useful Information about Iguazú Falls
Where are the Iguazu Falls located? Iguazu Falls are on the border between Argentina and Brazil. Part of them is in Argentina, part of them belongs to Brasil.
How to get to Iguazu Falls: There are many was to get to Iguazu Falls. From Buenos Aires in Argentina you can take a flight to Puerto Iguazú or probably the cheapest option is a long bus trip. If you are in Brazil you can get there by flying to Sao Paulo and then take a flight to Foz de Iguaçu or you can choose a bus trip.
What to do in Iguazu Falls: There is so much to do here especially on the Argentinian side. There are two circuits that go around the waterfalls: the Upper and the Lower Circuit. These two circuits are connected by the so called Rainforest Train. Apart from the main circuits, there is the Macuco Trail, which takes you right inside the tropical rainforest. We suggest you do this trail as well, where you can enjoy nature in tranquility, since not many people go there, and if you are lucky, you can even see lots of animals around the trail.
A very useful tip: If you want to spend more than one day on the Argentinean side of the park (the Brazilian side can be visited without any hurry in one day), after leaving the park the first day, head to the ticket office to get a stamp on your ticket, which will let you have a 50% discount on your ticket the next day.

On my list. I love all the photos you took…gorgeous!
Thanks Corinne! I hope you can visit Iguazu one day!
I have to say sights like these are breathtaking, especially when, under certain circumstances they overflow completely, and this has happened during rainy seasons on a number of occasions.
When we went there it was not the rainy season, but there was still a lot of water. In the rainy season there’s more water, but usually the colors are not so nice, as the water takes a lot of mud with itself and it’s quite brown:)
Gorgeous pictures! Thank you for sharing them and the info.
Thanks Holly for your comment!
I would love to go here, its on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing the pictures! 🙂
Great, I am sure you will love it when you get there once!
I LOVED Iguazu Falls! It was pouring down sheets of rain, but it was so worth it. I love your photos!
Yeah, I think it is amazing independently of the weather conditions!
This is truly breathtaking! Wonderful pictures, I love the multiple waterfalls. I didn’t know there are more than 250 of them!
Yeah, it’s amazing to have a look those pictures that show these waterfalls from the air. Absolutely stunning creation of nature!
I was here many years ago and was blown away by the power of the water. Really one of the world wonders.
Yes it is! Thanks for your comment!
Absolutely amazing photography. I think it is so cool that you can see a rainbow if you look at the falls from the proper angle. Thanks for sharing this post!
Thanks guys! Yeah, probably the place where we most rainbows saw in our life:)
Lovely photos! i visited only the Argentinian side back in 2009 but it took me almost 3 days! So hugeee and of course beautiful
We spent 2 days in the Argentinean side and 1 in Brazil, it’s mindblowing, and would have spent much more time there, if not because of the expensive entrance fees!
Wow very impressive waterfalls id love to see it one day 🙂
Hope you can do that soon!
Absolutely amazing photos, the sheer scale of the place can really been seen, although I am sure it is even more impressive in real life. Looking forward to seeing them when we eventually head to South America on our RTW. Great tips.
It will be surely one of the highlights of your RTW! Thanks for commenting!
Stunning pics. It all looks so so much larger than life. Can’t wait to get there someday!
Thanks so much! Hope you will get there soon!
Igazu Falls, a wonder of the world, and in my eyes a symbol of a nation! Its sheer power and beautiful surroundings make it a destination I hope to one day visit. I have bookmarked this (and the tips at the bottom) for future reference! Wow, your photos really do them justice!
Thanks Andrea! I agree that its grandeur has a symbolic value which both Argentinean and Brazilian people are proud of!
On my list as well. Beautiful photos and what an adventure. A friend of mine was there wearing all bold colors and a yellow raincoat; his pictures all looked photoshopped from all the vast contrast. I fell in love with the falls after seeing those photos and hope I get to see for myself some day.
I am happy you liked our pictures! Thanks!
Your photos of the waterfalls are amazing! It looks like a great place!
Thanks so much!
Absolutely STUNNING photos!! Just wow. I love waterfalls but have never visited one quite so impressive. It’s such an effort to get to Iguazu if you’re limited by time, but I guess it’s worth it hey 🙂
We love waterfalls too and have visited many of them. I have to recognize that since Iguazu none of the waterfalls we visited has been able to impress me as much..Seeing these pictures you can understand why….
What incredible photos. My Mom keeps hinting she wants to go to Argentina, if I show her these photos she’s make me book that trip ASAP 🙂 But hopefully later this year we make it happen and Iguazu is high on my list, thanks for this useful information.
I am just simply happy if our photos could inspire a little bit more your trip to Argentina! I hope it’s going to happen soon!
Amazing pictures, I had no idea of their size! Going to the top of my bucket list!
Yeah, when you visit, you will see that even these photos don’t bring back the real size of the waterfalls!
Oh wow, they really are incredible aren’t they! Beautiful photos, I think it would be worth the long bus trip! I love the plants clinging onto the rocks as they’re just being constantly battered. Looks like something from Avitar!
You are right, it’s well worth the long trip. For us it took 27 hours to get there from Montevideo in Uruguay:)
SO I was in Argentina for 2 months and I didn’t go to Igauzu, and I definitely regret it. It looks incredible.
Next time you shouldn’t miss out on these breathtaking waterfalls! I am sure you will have the chance to visit them soon!
Really beautiful scene.
Thanks!
Great information! We went to Iguacu falls recently and it was an amazing experience. I wish we ready your blog post first about stamping our entrance ticket to get admission half off the next day! Regardless, this is a place that should be on everyone’s bucket list!
I totally agree! It should be on everyone’s bucketlist!
After visiting my family in Argentina, I decided I had to go see the falls! They are the most impressive sight I have ever seen! I recommend to any first time visitors to visit the Argentina side because it has a majority of the falls including La Garganta Del Diablo(the biggest one) and it has more activities. The highlight of my trip was taking a powerboat right up to the falls and even under a small one! After a small trip downstream, we were taken to a 4-by-4 and then taken on an off road adventure through the rainy tropical jungle. A must do for any visitor! The Upper and Lowers trails are stunning as well as the train to the trail that leads to La Garganta Del Diablo. Puerto Iguazu is a charming little town with lots of souvenir shops.
Thanks Catie for sharing your personal experience with our readers and us! I agree with you that Iguazu is one of the most impressive natural landmarks on our planet!
