This time we will photowalk around a town that most of you probably never heard about. It’s my hometown, Debrecen in Hungary. Debrecen is the second largest town in Hungary after Budapest, and it’s one of the most important cultural centres in the country. It’s the center of the protestant religion in the region, there’s a beautiful university campus in town, a picturesque city center and intense cultural life throughout the whole year. I can’t be objective about my hometown, so let the photos convince you about its beauty.

I am happy Ashley that you find my hometown pretty!
Hungary has never been a town i have been very interested in – its actually really beautiful – thanks for sharing
Hungary is quite small, but it’s still a country;-) I am glad you found Debrecen, my hometown beautiful.
Beautiful photos! Oh how I loved Hungary! What kind of camera do you have?
Thanks Milene! I am soooo happy to hear that you loved my country! We use a Nikon D90-camera with a 18-200 mm zoom lens. As you can imagine, these last photos of Debrecen have gone through quite important amount of post-production (Photoshop).
My boyfriend went to school in Debrecen, but I’ve never been. I saw the tips of the church from the train when I was passing through. He tells me not to visit. I’ll probably do it at some point without him anyways 😉
I don’t understand why your boyfriend does not want to go to Debrecen:) Ok, I can understand that the town can be a boring (the fun places are limited to the bars close to the campus and the city center is really dull by night) but it’s worth seeing it once. Living in Budapest it takes a couple of hours to get there, I wouldn’t miss it 🙂
Sick as I am of winter and all this snow in New Hampshire, I still found that Christmas light photo delightful! They’re all beautiful. Love these photowalks!
I am glad Erin that you like our photowalks, I will be even more enthusiastic to prepare it next time thinking about this!
Gorgeous photos! Alex and I absolutely loved Budapest and both of us want to explore Hungary even more! I think we just found another city to add to the list along with wanting to hit all the wine regions. Thanks for sharing your hometown!
You can get to Debrecen in a couple of hours from Budapest, and I think it is a nice town to spend a day in. I really wish you good luck in your travels around my country!
Debrecen looks beautiful! And like everyone else’s photos of their hometown, it “never” rains there. 🙂 Thanks for highlighting your hometown of Debrecen!
Yeah probably every one shows the sunny side of his hometown in the pictures!:) Thanks for the comment!
Amazing photos! I think it’s always good to see your hometown with the eyes of a tourist. It looks amazing, hopefully I’ll get there one day!
Thanks Mike! My hometown is really beautiful, I promoted it a little bit by these photos!
I love your photowalks! You are from an amazingly pretty place, wow!!! Beautiful photos!
Thanks Milene, I am happy that you love our photowalks, it makes me feel enthusiastic about preparing the next one.
Stunning pictures! Especially the first one, just beautiful
Thanks Samantha, I appreciate that you like them!
My husband goes to Debrecen on business trips from Malaysia because his company, based in Texas, has a location there. He’s always telling me how beautiful it is, but he never actually takes any pictures to show me. From your photos, he’s definitely right. We might go and visit Debrecen as a family this summer.
Wow, this is amazing! What are the chances of that someone working in Malaysia goes to my small town on business trip? I would love to meet you guys in Debrecen and show you around when you come, but probably I won’t be there as I live in Spain. Anyway, tell me when you come, I might be there for holidays!
I love the Christmas picture! I would love to visit Hungary someday.
Thanks Katherine! I hope you will get to visit my country one day!
Beautiful, beautiful photos. They make me want to visit Hungary!! Well done.
Thanks Marilyn! There are many nice places in Hungary, I hope you can visit my country in the near future!
Stunning! Love the composition of the fountain shot! I wish I had more time in Hungary on my upcoming trip. I would have loved to visit Debrecen!
I am glad you are going to visit my home country! I hope you will have a great time there!!
